That means this is your chance to help us design a special wrap specifically for BWI Birmingham. Next week, on Monday, we'll post a new photo album in our Facebook discussion group where folks can upload an inspiration picture. Basically, the idea is that you take a photo you love and then Jessica pulls colors and ideas from it to create a completely unique wrap. For example, you can see how the chip it tool pulled colors out of these photos to suggest possible color combinations.
So maybe for the photo on the left she'd do a wrap with lots of greens with pinstripes of bright, summery colors, and for the photo on the right she might do a gradation of blues, greens, greys, and browns to mimic the earth and sky.
After a week we will close submissions and give folks another week to vote on which photo they like best. Our volunteers will take the top submissions and work with Jessica to design a wrap unique to BWI of Birmingham. (We're very fortunate that Clare, one of our VBEs, is familiar with weaving and textiles and can help us finalize the design.)
We don't have a timeline on when the wraps will be finished since her looms stay pretty busy with her other work, but we're so excited and grateful to have this opportunity to add something very special to our lending library. If you're a fiber artist and ever down in Northport/Tuscaloosa, we'd love it if you stopped by her place to say hi and check out some of her wonderful yarns and other fiber art supplies.
