First, this week kicks off our first meeting of the month. We'll be meeting as usual at 10am downstairs at the Hoover Library on Wednesday the 4th. (We're easy to find - just listen for the babble of 30+ infants and toddlers.) This week we've decided to do a two part topic - first we'll be talking some about the benefits of babywearing, and because of all the winter storms we thought we'd also take this opportunity to talk about emergency babywearing. If you're ever hiking with a sick child or need to improvise a carrier for any reason you'll be glad you came by this week.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 10th at 10am at the Gardendale Library. Since these are often smaller meetings we don't always plan for a specific topic, but just means we have more time to answer questions and work one-on-one. We meet over by the children's area, and as convenient as that is we do want to note that it's important to check that children are staying in that area and not straying off to play "how many books can I pull off this shelf."
Final meeting of the month is also our newest meeting and will be Saturday the 21st at 9:00am. We were really thrilled with how things went at our first meeting last month and look forward to seeing everyone again. However, please note that we are planning a change of location. Going forward we're planning on having our Saturday meetings at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church off of 119. We're still waiting final confirmation, but we'll be sure to announce any location changes ahead of time in multiple places. (This would be a great time to mention that you can sign up for our e-mail list if you'd rather get updates that way instead of checking here or on Facebook. Just go to our contact page.)
Our librarians and educators are also excited to announce two new carriers that just arrived from Lillebaby! They sent us two different versions of the complete carrier - one regular for all this crazy winter weather we're having and an airflow version for when we're all sitting in front of a fan melting. Every buckle carrier is different, so we encourage y'all to get your hands on these to see if this buckle carrier is the right one for you.
Please remember that all carriers are due a month after being checked out - this means that if you checked out a carrier from Hoover last month that it's due this Wednesday. Please contact us if you know ahead of time (illness, out of town, etc) if you won't be able to return your carrier so that we can help you make plans for getting back to us.
All our meetings are always free and open to the public. We encourage folks, if they already have a carrier and have questions, to bring their carrier with them if they have any questions about using it. We love seeing snuggly babies and happy toddlers, so please come talk with us! Also, if you don't have a baby and are a grandmother, doula, nanny, or otherwise want to learn more about babywearing we'd love to have y'all come join us as well.
